So you want to learn how to make money online with an affiliate program. At least what you want isn’t crazy, like making money online instantly (though that can be possible).

Making money with an affiliate program is simple, but it takes dedication to one idea over time. You aren’t going to be making bookoos of money overnight.

Affiliate marketing is a long ball game. You have to be willing to stick to your concept for the duration. You shouldn’t get discouraged within 3 months when your website isn’t making anything.

There are four steps to making money in affiliate marketing. If you half-way execute any of these step, it could mean failure to your affiliate marketing endeavors. They are selecting a niche to work in, building your website, posting content on your website-and then (the best part)-collecting money.

Picking a niche may determine your profitability.

This is where you will pick the industry you will be operating in. Some people just sell electronics, and make a killing. Some people (like me) sell education of a certain kind and do fairly well.

Whatever you do, I recommend you work within a niche that you are passionate about. If you are passionate about something, you are more likely to stick with that something longer.  Writingin that niche every day doesn’t seem like such a chore.

The only problem is you need to make sure that the field/hobby you chose is actually profitable. If the items you will be selling are inexpensive and you are making a 10%-25% cut, you aren’t going to be making that much money, are you?  Or you will be working feverishly to make money on the niche.

There are actually many people out there who don’t have hobbies, or are not certain as to which hobby to start with. If you are one of these people, I recommend doing a Yellow Pad Weekend.

Once you have completed the yellow pad weekend, you should be very clear on the direction you want to go.

If you don’t want to spend the time to do the Yellow Pad Weekend (I highly advise everyone do the Yellow Pad Weekend at least one), you can go here and they have a ready-made niche, just for you.

This is site builder for my web host of choice. This is the free sub-domain builder. The private domain builder is the same except that yu can select from the private domains available instead of having to enter a doamin name.

Building your website-this is too easy.

The next part is building your website. There are a couple steps you need to follow, but it’s too easy.

1) Register your private domain: The first thing you have to do is register your private domain. If you use a “.com” domain suffix, your website should be fairly inexpensive…usually $11-$15 per year.

You obviously want the domain name to fit into your niche. In other words, you don’t want the domain to be “www.myextraordinarylife.com” when you are talking about painting, hunting or another niche. That domain sounds more like a personal blog.

You want your domain name to help in branding your site.

Any reputable web host provides a domain registration service as a part of their hosting package.

But watch out! many web hosts have no problem boosting the domain registration prices on you year after year. After all, if you don’t register your domain name every year, you lose your piece of internet real estate.

There is one web host I know of, though, that will never increase their domain registration prices. What you pay during domain setup is what you will always pay. You can click here to check them out.

2) Build your website: This is where you give your website a brandable title, pick the theme of your website, and have the web host populate it.

First, the brandable title. You want to obviously pick a title that fits in your niche. You want a title that is fairly close (if not identical to) your domain name. The you won’t be confusing your visitors when they land on your page.

You don’t want your visitors to click on “www.ballet.com” and get “My Life in the Heavy Metal Circuit.” This is an extreme example, but can you imagine the confusion (and the click-aways) you would get from a title/domain conflict like that?

Second, Finding themes for your site. Most web hosts make it a nightmare to find the right theme for your site. They will give you the WordPress theme of the year to start you off. In other words, the “WordPress Twenty-Twenty” theme. If you want another theme, you have to go out on the Internet to find it.

When you finally find the theme you want, you may find that there are formatting issues between the web host and the theme. I had the theme I am using now with hostgator.com. When I did, they had admin links at the top right of my web page that were available to the public (from what I could tell).

Needless to say, I wasn’t going to stand for that. So I switched my hosting to another web host. Now I don’t have that problem.

There is one web host that makes the overall building your website a snap. Not only is the domain purchasing and website title-creation all done in the same place… They have a library of over 3000 free themes that you can choose from.

The best part is that once you register your domain name, and you know which theme you want, website creation can be done in 30 second or less.

The only thing that may take a minute or two is the website population, but that’s on the web host…not you. And most web hosts take that long to populate the databases for

web sites anyway.

Once the web host is done building your website, you can start working on it. So…

Time to make some content-the king of the affiliate marketing battle!

This is where the rubber hits the road.

You will be promoting goods and services using review articles. You will be reviewing the products that you want to sell. Then you will be putting your affiliate links in the articles.

Then you will be writing blog posts on targeted keywords. The articles will then link back to the reviews that you write.

Then you just lather, rense, repeat.

There might be some concepts in your blog posts that you want to go into more detail on, You just don’t want to in that post. That is where you write the interlink post, and link to it where you initially mentioned the concept you are expanding upon.

Google loves these kinds of posts because they want to see that your website has value. And if you are linking from page to page within your website… you are demonstrating that your posts have depth and value.

The interlinking posts also add weight to your website.

That’s really all there is to generating content from the bird’s-eye-view. The only thing left is to…

Enjoy the money!

Not much to say here. Just take some time to enjoy the fruits or your hard work.

What I have given you here is the birds-eye-view of how to make money with affiliate marketing. If you want to know more about this concept, I encourage you to check this out. This is how I learned how to do exactly this, and you can even get started for free.

If you have any questions or comments, please do leave them down below. I appreciate all comments and will bet back to you with a reply.

Until next time… Good luck out there, no matter where you end up on the internet.
